A "Svelte" Pair of Leggings
Waist trainers, corsets, bodysuits (gloves), spanx and shape wear. We women put ourselves in discomfort in order to look smaller and shapelier.
Shape wear or spanx or body suits are not a no no for me. In fact, I would recommend it all the time to my clients when I style them. It just keeps your shape throughout the night, keeps your dress in place and visually appear slimmer in front of the camera.
For personal us; however, I was in denial and couldn't bring myself to wear something that would make me "uncomfortable". I'm all about looking good, but with comfort. So yes. I associated these undergamrents as "uncomfortable". So when Svelte approached me and asked if I'd like to try their product, I was a little reluctant.
First, I'm a mom of 3. Though I've been active and fit and am a strong advocate for movement, I do not have a firm tummy. In fact, I have some overhang from loose skin and excess fat. I am also a woman on the go. Sure, when I'm home, I'm in lounge wear, but when I have to leave the house, I like to look comfortably presentable. I have a petite frame, so finding pants that fit my length, my inseam and my waist is tricky unless it comes in a petite size. Same goes with shape wear. I've had problems with the torso fitting me in length, but I wouldn't be able to breathe because it was way too small. Or it would fit comfortably in the waist but would be far too long in the torso that I would have to tuck it in (my underwear, yeah not pleasant) or it would be rubbing underneath my under-boob which is irritating.
Svelte gave me a choice of what I wanted and I was quickly smitten by the built in shape wear leggings with leather trim pockets. They were cute in the picture, so I though I would give them a shot.
Packaging was presentable. They came in a waterproof shipping bag, carefully wrapped in a shipping envelope with their logo and was wrapped in white tissue with a note thanking me for my purchase and their contact information if I had any questions or if I had any feedback.
The product was beautiful. I was quite excited. The pockets were a little funny to me at first. They opened to the back and was quite shallow. Since I don't put anything in my pocket when I wear leggings, It didn't bother me a bit. Like any leggings, it's a little challenging to get into, since the material is a little more firm (in build, not in texture) but as soon as it went up around my waist, it was an "ahhh" moment. It was comfortable. I the shape wear do a mini tummy-tuck to my belly, and with my side love handles.
I did a little test run in yoga class to see if it could withstand all the poses and transitions. Well done. If you look at the stitching above, there's nothing wrong with it. None of the threading came out (which normally happens with low quality leggings) it didn't show any unwanted bare bum and after all that stretching and lunging and sitting, the material, though it did loosen out a little bit (just enough for me to feel it around my legs) didn't give way to sag or affect the belly area.
I highly recommend these leggings. In fact, I've already recommended them to family and friends. If they're leggings are this good a product, I wonder how their jeans are...
